Page 1. The atmosphere of all the people in the house makes staying sober easier...
My name is Daniel. I have been a resident at Stepping Stone House for seven months now. It has been a tremendous help in my recovery. I get along very well with my housemates. They have been there when I needed them. Living in my first house for sober men has added an extra head start in my recovery. Being in Stepping Stone has made it easier for me to stay sober early on. The atmosphere of all the people in the house makes staying sober easier too. When I left rehab, I could have gone back home, but I made that mistake before. I would recommend to anyone that to start their recovery off on the right track is to find a sober house to go to after a treatment program. Stepping Stone would be my first choice for a man.
I believe that sober houses are indispensable...
The sober house has helped me by providing me with a stable environment to help me work on my recovery program. It has given me an opportunity to be around supportive people who are also attending meetings and trying to better themselves. Without a place like this I may have had to live in situations that would put my sobriety and well-being in jeopardy. By being here I have learned to deal with my problems in a more constructive way, and I have begun to put my life back together. I believe that sober houses are and indispensable platform for people to build upon to further their development to become drug free productive members of society. Here they can break the cycle of active addiction and pick up their lives where they should have been before being influenced by drugs and alcohol. I think that these types of opportunities are an essential part of any community that will result in people addressing their problems and each person that changes their life will be another person off the streets and away from a life of hardship and crime. Each one of us recovering addicts is another positive support for those behind us who also choose to follow our path to a sober and productive life. This can bring society one step closer to ridding our communities of drugs.
Sober houses make a neighborhood safer rather than less safe...
A sober home is and integral part of the recovery process for people that are serious about recovery. Anyone that thinks any different must be uneducated in addiction and recovery because the benefits largely outweigh the negatives. (If any)
Sober houses make a neighborhood safer rather than less safe. It gives people in recovery a safe environment to live in and to get back to living their lives the way that they should be. The people in recovery get to live and help one another in a way that people who are not in recovery could never do. A sober home takes addicts off the streets, an addict in a sober home has a much better chance of not-relapsing than one living either on the streets or in a house they used to use in. It provides a steady environment, and in some cases free rent so that people can get their feet on the ground before going back out into the real world fully.
I hope that people will realize that a neighborhood with a sober house is better than one without a sober home. Sober houses keep people who are using out of the neighborhood’s rather than bringing them in. I hope that people will realize this before being against sober living.
